The COVID-19 pandemic has brought hardship and gripped the world. In such dreadful times, some students of IIT Kharagpur of Gopali Youth Welfare Society came forward and are trying to help the nation in possible ways.
Many people residing in and around Kharagpur have problems with basic essentials.
GYWS collaborated with the Gram Panchayat to create a team of 15-20 volunteers consisting of local villagers and panchayat members. They did a door to door distribution of basic amenities to the rural households in the area under Gopali gram panchayat covering nearly 2000 families during the difficult situation of COVID-19.
The items that has been distributed to each household:
1.Rice-3kg
2.Onions-0.5kg
3.Potatoes-2kg
4.Nutella-100g
5.Sanitizers
GYWS also engaged cabs to provide transportation facilities to Civic Police.
5000 masks also been distributed to 7-gram panchayats which are
- Arjuni
- Barkola
- Hariatara
- Khelar
- Vetia
- Kalaikunda
- Gopali
Each Gram Panchayat was given 500 masks to be distributed to the needy people.
20 extra masks were handed for Pradhans office bearers. They were also offered N -95 masks with sanitizers for volunteers.
With the remaining masks, about 500masks would be provided to ASHA workers, police, BDO SDO office, etc
And 1000 masks would be distributed to Jagriti Vidya Mandir’s
Students,parents,teachers,workers.
