Shooting their important scenes, specially songs in several exotic foreign locations has become quite normal nowadays for the Bollywood filmmakers. But did you know, some great and popular Hollywood movies have also been filmed in different parts of India.
Recently, Arnold Schwarzenegger shot part of his next ‘Terminator’ venture in South India. ‘The Man Who Knew Infinity’ based on the famous mathematician Sninivasa Ramanujun, finished shooting in Chennai.
Here is the list of Eight Popular Hollywood Movies that have been shot in India
1. Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol
Some part including the climax scene of the fourth venture of Mission Impossible series has been shot in India. The climax was shot in Bura Bazar area of Mumbai and other parts in Bangalore. The movie has another Indi connection as Anil Kapoor played a cameo here.
2. The Bourne Supremacy
The Second installment of Bourne series, The Bourne Supremacy (2004) have shot few scenes in Goa. Among them, a high speed chase featuring Matt Demon through the lanes of the Goan town was quite fabulous.
3. Zero Dark Thirty
Directed by Kathryn Bigelow (only woman director to win Oscar ); the movie is about hunting down Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan. As the crew didn’t get permission to shoot there, so most of the parts have been filmed in Chandigarh, India.
4. The Dark Knight Rises
Christopher Nolan starrar ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, a movie of Batman series has shot the jail escape scene of Batman at the Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, Chand Baori at Abhaneri.
5. Eat Pray Love
The Pretty Woman, Julia Roberts played the lead in this movie, which was partly shot in India, at the Ashram Hari Mandir in Pataudi, Haryana.
6. Holy Smoke
Starring the Titanic girl, Kate Winslet, the movie was shot partly in Paharganj in Delhi and Pushkar in Rajasthan, India.
7. The Darjeeling Limited
The film featured the story of three brothers who come to India for spiritual satisfaction. The characters has been played by Adrien Brody, Owen Wilson and Jason Schwartzman- the movie has some part shot in Udaipur, and also in Jodhpur.
8. Slumdog Millionaire
Highest Oscar award winning movie of that year, Slumdog Millionaire (directed by Danny Boyle) showed the slums of Mumbai, and many more places (Slums of Dharavi, CST station & Taj Mahal Agra). The movie went through a lot of criticism due to poor depiction of India and Indians.
